A little about my own burnout to bliss story…
Life doesn’t happen the way that you expect when you become a mama…
In fact, there wasn’t much about becoming a mom that went as I had planned… at all!
When I returned to work after an all-too-short maternity leave, I felt torn, sacrificing quality time with my family in order to work… I would be thinking about my family while working… and thinking about work while I tried to just be present with my new baby and my partner.
I quickly spiraled from sort-of managing things, to completely burning out.
My breakthrough started when, during a checkup, I confessed to my doctor that I felt I was a failure. As a mom. As a wife. As a career woman. I was completely blown away when my doctor looked me in the eyes and told me that my job was not to be the perfect mom...wife...career woman. My job was to take care of myself first so that I would have the energy to be a good enough mom...wife...career woman.
I had spent years teaching other full time working mamas how to take their life experiences and use those to launch them forward towards strategic goals, but I struggled to see a path forward for myself. I knew I had a different calling, and that I had a powerful desire to make an impact in the lives of other mamas, so I decided to listen to that still, quiet, insistent voice and do something about it.
I began listening to podcasts and audiobooks while I was up late caring for my son, filling my spirit and my mind with hope… and new ideas began to form. I invested in an amazing coach who taught me how to discover strengths and develop skills in resilience that I didn’t know were possible to achieve!
I decided I was going to do something new with my Masters in Business Administration and my Bachelors in Psychology degrees. I added that to what I learned during my 18 years of academic coaching, advising and teaching working moms who had gone back to university to complete their degrees (while working full time - like the supermoms that they are). I took what I learned creating college curriculum, and teaching it to those working moms (and dads), and poured it into a program focused on creating SOLUTIONS for other moms.
And, one year after I came back from maternity leave, I left my burnout and my 9-5 job behind.
Today, I’m living my dream. I get to stay home with my son, and work hours that allow me to be fully present when we play together. I get to spend evenings with my partner, enjoying the happiness that the quality time that we share together generates. I get to do all this while I help other supermoms to go from feeling burned out to creating balance and transitioning to careers that serve their unique strengths and needs.
And now, I want to help YOU.
